Mother’s Day – With Or Without Children

Serenity

Take a few minutes right now and imagine the most enjoyable day of your life. You have the opportunity to spend this day however you wish. If you are an adventurous type, you can have an exciting day. If you prefer relaxation, you can choose a soothing atmosphere. Whatever you’re dreaming about, just go there in your mind. Really, close your eyes and visualize your special day. When you are finished, continue reading.

Welcome back! Wasn’t that fun? Some of us are daydreamers by nature and others of us need a little push. We rarely stop to think about leisure time now that we are moms. But Mother’s Day–May 10th–is coming up in a few days and now is the perfect time to brainstorm ideas. How do you want to spend it–with or without your children? That’s a tough question, but not as hard to answer as you may think. When you were daydreaming a few minutes ago, were your children in the picture? Did you imagine spending your day with them? No guilt. Jut answer the question.  It’s not called Family Day, only Mother’s Day.

If you are like me, you may want the best of both worlds. I like to spend some time with the people who made me a mother. I like to reflect on the years of my journey and thank God for how I’m being shaped in the process. I call my mom (since we live too far away for a quick visit) and tell her I love her.  Finally, I like to get away with some other moms and enjoy time away from my “motherly responsibilities”. That usually includes wearing clean clothes and makeup and having a hot meal without interruptions:).

What about you? How will you spend Mother’s Day? I’d love to hear from you.
