Have you ever thought about making homemade baby food? It’s not as scary as it may seem. You have more control of the quality of your baby’s food when you make it. You have the freedom to choose organic foods, fresh foods, frozen foods or some combination. The choice is yours. Homemade baby food is very simple and cost effective too.
Making homemade baby food does take some extra effort, but the benefits far outweigh the time it takes.
All you need to get started is a blender, food, and ice cube trays. You can steam or cook the food first. Then, transfer it to the blender with a splash of the cooking liquid. Use more liquid if needed. After you get the desired consistency, fill ice cube trays and freeze. Finally, transfer the frozen cubes into freezable containers for easy storage. You can thaw just what you need without wasting food.
Still unsure about which foods to use when? My favorite reference for homemade baby foods is Mommy Made and Daddy Too! I used this book for all four of my children. It has lots of information about what foods to introduce when. There are even recipes for the toddler years when children may become picky eaters.
I also found tons of recipes at www.babyandtoddlerrecipes.com. I wish I had known about this free resource sooner. There is an entire section for baby food recipes.
